The 2026 ceremony was held in London to mark the 70th anniversary of the Ballon d’Or, which was first won by Sir Stanley Matthews in 1956.

Kane’s success did not stop at the main award. He also received the Gerd Müller Trophy, which recognises the leading goalscorer in men’s football.
