Kevin Lamour FIFA Exit: Senior Executive Leaves After Infantino Criticism

FIFA has confirmed that Chief Operating Officer Kevin Lamour left the organisation on August 17, adding another chapter to the growing controversy surrounding FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The news comes weeks after Lamour publicly criticised FIFA’s proposed plan to bring private investment into the commercial side of the World Cup.

The dispute centred around the now-abandoned FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, which would have created a new commercial structure linked to FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup. Lamour argued that the process lacked transparency and raised concerns about governance inside football’s governing body.

FIFA released a brief statement confirming that the working relationship with Lamour had ended but did not provide further details. Lamour had been one of FIFA’s most senior executives and previously worked closely with Infantino during their time at UEFA.

The Kevin Lamour FIFA Exit has increased pressure on Infantino ahead of future FIFA elections. UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC have already expressed concerns over FIFA’s handling of the World Cup investment proposal, while some national associations have withdrawn support for Infantino.

This latest development highlights the ongoing debate about transparency, governance and the future direction of world football’s governing body.
