Hayley Matthews Reaches Career-High ICC Rankings After Zimbabwe Series

West Indies captain Hayley Matthews has reached new career highs in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Rankings after a brilliant series against Zimbabwe.

Matthews was named Player of the Series after scoring 326 runs in three matches, helping West Indies win the ODI series 2-1. Her outstanding performances have now pushed her to career-best positions in both the ODI batting and all-rounder rankings.

Hayley Matthews Climbs to No. 4 in ODI Batting Rankings

Matthews has moved up to fourth place in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings with a career-high rating of 731 points.

She now sits behind India’s Smriti Mandhana, South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt and Australia’s Beth Mooney.

Her rise came after a superb run of form against Zimbabwe, including a remarkable 182 in the first ODI in Harare.

That innings was the highest individual ODI score by a West Indies women’s batter and the sixth-highest individual score in Women’s ODI cricket.

Matthews Also Sets New Career High as an ODI All-Rounder

The West Indies star has also reached a new high in the ICC Women’s ODI all-rounder rankings.

Matthews now has a career-best rating of 467 points, putting her in second place behind Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner, who has 497 points.

The gap between the two players is now only 30 rating points.

This shows how important Matthews has become for West Indies in both departments. She has continued to make a major impact with the bat while remaining one of the team’s key all-round options.

Record-Breaking 182 in Harare

Matthews produced the biggest performance of the Zimbabwe series in the opening ODI in Harare.

She smashed 182 runs from 156 balls, taking the West Indies to 299/6 before Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 200.

Her innings included 28 boundaries, and it became her new highest score in ODI cricket. West Indies won the match by 99 runs.

The knock was also Matthews’ 13th ODI century and made her the first West Indies women’s batter to score 150 or more in an ODI twice in the same calendar year.

West Indies Win Zimbabwe ODI Series

Matthews’ contribution helped West Indies claim the three-match ODI series 2-1.

The series was part of the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship, making the results important beyond just the series itself.

Matthews finished as the leading run-scorer with 326 runs, underlining her influence throughout the contest.

Other West Indies players also made progress in the latest rankings. Shemaine Campbelle climbed 15 places to 74th among ODI batters, while Afy Fletcher, Aaliyah Alleyne and Ashmini Munisar all moved up the ODI bowling rankings.

Hayley Matthews Chasing the No. 1 All-Rounder Ranking

Matthews is now just 30 rating points behind Ashleigh Gardner in the ODI all-rounder rankings.

That means another strong run of performances could put the West Indies captain in serious contention for the No. 1 position.

Her latest rankings rise is another sign of Matthews’ growing status among the world’s leading women’s cricketers.

At only 28, she remains one of the most important players in the West Indies setup and will be expected to continue leading the team with both bat and ball.
