Hull City Fined £30,000 Over Offensive Chelsea Chanting

Hull City have been fined £30000 by the Football Association (FA) following discriminatory chanting during their FA Cup match against Chelsea in February.

The incident happened during the first half of the match, with offensive chanting heard from sections of the Hull City home crowd. A public-address announcement was made during the game, warning supporters to stop the chanting.

Hull City Receive £30,000 Fine

An independent regulatory commission imposed the £30000 fine after finding that Hull City failed to prevent the offensive chanting despite warnings during the match.

The FA said the case involved chanting that made a reference, either directly or indirectly, to sexual orientation. Hull City admitted the charges brought against the club.

Action Plan Also Issued

Along with the financial penalty, Hull City have been ordered to follow an action plan aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future.

A second announcement was made during the match after action had been taken, with reports also indicating that arrests were made following the incident.

The FA’s decision highlights the governing body’s continued efforts to deal with discriminatory behaviour and offensive chanting at football matches.
