Andoni Iraola teases Liverpool’s New Mohamed Salah Succession Plans

More than two months since Mohamed Salah’s name was formally scraped from the Liverpool roster, the club is still battling with how to replace the Anfield legend. Andoni Iraola is the new manager, and he’s keen to try something fresh.

No immediate replacement came through the summer transfer window for the Reds’ right-wing post long occupied by the Egyptian for nine years. Salah is a two-pronged wide forward, contributing 380 goal involvements (257 goals, 123 assists) in 442 games.

Replacing his influence is a near impossible prospect, but it looks like Liverpool will challenge Bradley Barcola to do just that. The winger is now the second most expensive signing in club history. The Frenchman scored 22 goals and assisted 22 goals for Paris Saint-Germain in the 2024–25 season.

The only problem is Barcola plays left wing, even if he can play on the right. Like Salah was a left-footed player cutting in from the right, Liverpool’s new No. 29 is a right-footed player cutting infield from the left. His game goes amiss.
